Tension Release Back and Facial Massage
Long-held tensions melt away from the back, neck and shoulders, followed by a deeply relaxing and toning facial massage.
This deep massage is multi-faceted with the added benefits of Eastern techniques to bring you a greater release of tension. I use a combination of Trigger Point Therapy and Acupressure massage to break down pain receptors. The application of a Gua-Sha tool improves circulation and breaks down adhesions, and stretching techniques help elongate and rebalance, leaving you feeling both recharged and relaxed. This combined approach has incredible results for my clients, alleviating pain and the stresses of daily life.
What is a Tension Release Massage?
Western Swedish Massage with it’s deep releasing strokes and kneading movements are combined with the ancient Chinese technique of Gua-Sha, using a flat tool of natural stone like rose quartz to break down adhesions and increase circulation. By finding knots or areas of tightness that present pain, trigger point therapy is applied using the pressure of the fingers into these points, and breath work to alleviate contracted muscles with incredible tension-releasing results. Releasing and stretching bodywork opens up tightness at the base of the skull. This massage can help calm tight muscles so that your neck and shoulders will feel released. Deep relaxation comes from the slow strokes of the facial Gua-Sha massage, lifting and toning. By stretching and releasing the head and neck muscles this treatment is good for reducing stress, ending with some seated stretches when you are dressed before you leave.
What’s Involved?
Is It For Me?
This treatment is perfect for those suffering from tension headaches arising from the neck and shoulders. Repetitive activities and time spent in front of computers result in the build-up of tight muscles, not just in our backs and shoulders but in our jaws and faces. This is an area that we may be unconscious of becoming tense, but once treated with facial massage, it can be eye-opening how much relief this can bring and just how deeply relaxing facial massage can be.
I had a wonderful rejuvenating massage with Anna. The space and ambiance were perfect, lovely experiencing a few different techniques and Anna’s gentle but firm pressure was a godsend. I will be going back to destress again soon.

This treatment will break down tension in your back neck and shoulders, and lift your face, improving circulation with the use of Gua-Sha. It is best if you don’t have any make up on so that you can enjoy the facial massage and give your skin time to breathe and be hydrated. By drinking water before your treatment you will improve your skin’s elasticity and this will help to eliminate fine lines. Wear loose-fitting clothing or something you feel comfortable in and an extra layer as your body can feel chilly after a treatment. Bring a hairband for those of you with long hair. Ensure you've detailed all your current health concerns in the health consultation form and get in touch if you have any questions or concerns before your visit. This treatment is a wonderful addition to a body massage for head-to-toe rebalancing.

After your massage treatment, your body and mind are in a relaxed state. Here are some pointers to ensure you receive maximum benefits from your treatment.
Drink plenty of water to assist in the elimination of toxins from the body.
Get plenty of rest. You may feel tired after treatment.
Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine-containing beverage for 12 hours, as they have dehydrating properties.
Avoid strenuous activity for the next 12 hours, to help your body relax and de-stress further.
Do deep breathing exercises to assist with taking in oxygen to your fullest capacity.
Try to reduce your stress levels as this leads to body tension. This is very important, and I know it is easy to say but harder to do. Start with trying to be aware of what muscles are engaged (tense) and ask yourself whether they need to be engaged if they are not being used. Then try to let go of some of the tension and relax them. Eg drops your shoulders and relax your arms.
Massage treatments work best when performed regularly. To improve your symptoms, you will find greater benefits from regular treatments, so don’t leave it too long until your next massage.
It all starts by learning what you would like from your treatment so that I can tailor the session to your needs.
